ElektroEko S.A. is the largest electrical and electronic equipment recycling organization
Our organization was established the major businesses and organizations associating producers and importers of household appliances, consumer electronics, IT equipment and lighting. On behalf of our clients, our organization fulfills their obligations under the Act of July 29, 2005 on waste electrical and electronic equipment, by:
- organizing an efficient and cost effective system of waste equipment, collection, pickup processing, reclaiming, recycling and neutralization
- submitting the required reports and accounts to the General Environment Protection Inspectorate,
- educating and promoting the idea of selective collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
ElektroEko operates under the Act on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, which charges every Introducer (i.e. producer, importer and intra-community purchaser of electric and electronic equipment) with the obligation to:
- sign a contract with an electric and electronic equipment recycling organization which will establish a system of managing WEEE on his behalf,
or
- deposit a cash security (as a guarantee to finance the Introducer’s obligations in case of nonperformance or incorrect performance) and fulfill the obligations individually.
All activities initiated by ElektroEko are designed to protect the natural environment from waste electrical and electronic equipment, which if not recycled correctly, becomes a health hazard for people, animals and plant life.
Education is an important element of these activities, because the Polish society is not aware of the hazards represented by waste electrical and electronic equipment, nor of the need to treat this type of waste in a special way. The general population is often unaware that discarding WEEE in inappropriate places is punishable by fine. ElektroEko strives to educate the Polish society to support the building of a WEEE managing system by turning in their waste equipment to appropriate collection centers.
ElektroEko is a nonprofit joint stock company. This means that the goal of the shareholders who founded the company is not to generate profit but to establish an organization that will ensure the effective and proper discharge of statutory obligations with minimum operating costs. All proceeds generated by the company are invested in the establishment and expansion of the WEEE collection, pickup, processing, reclaiming, recycling and neutralization system, as well as ecological education.
Experienced employees of ElektroEko provide professional services to the organization's clients in three key departments:
- Household Appliances,
- Lighting,
- Consumer Electronics and Information Technology.
